J. Robert “Bob” Carleton and Gary W. Craig, of Vector Group, Inc presented Dealmakers: Heads in the Sand or Dealing Effectively with Culture Clash and other Human Capital Challenges? What a Dealmaker Needs to Know at the AM&AA Winter Conference at the Intercontinental Hotel in Miami on January 17. They also presented their Dealmakers’ Guide: The Ten Things a Dealmaker Needs to Know About Cultural Due Diligence. This provided Dealmakers answers to the very basic questions about human capital challenges during a merger or acquisition.

 

February 2017

Gary W. Craig and J. Robert “Bob” Carleton will present Beating the Odds: Building a Deal-Maker’s Credibility by Ensuring a Quickly Successful Deal with Legs for the Longer-Term at the Alliance for Mergers & Acquisitions Advisors (AM&AA) Winter Conference in Las Vegas at the Bellagio on February 2, 2017.

July 2016

Gary Craig recently joined the Alliance for Mergers and Acquisitions Advisors (AM&AA) when he presented at their Summer Conference in Chicago July 2016. As a member of a panel with Chelsea Wood, Mark Walztoni and Brian Steffens, CM&AA, moderator, presenting “Odds are your deal will fail: Tips to prevent ‘culture clash’ and organizational misalignment from destroying deal value.” Gary is now a member of the International Committee, the Summer Conference Committee for 2017 and a member of the task force working to launch a chapter of AM&AA in the Denver-Rocky Mountain region.

Vector Group Principals will participate in the International Society for Performance Improvement’s Signature Event This year is the “Anniversary Barrel” which celebrates ISPI’s 50th anniversary! This year, ISPI will end the conference with this fun and highly energetic tradition featuring roundtables hosted by experts in the field. Presenters deliver three, 20-minute presentations on topics of their choice. Bob Carleton will present Organizational Performance: Getting Beyond an Individual Focus and Gary Craig will present Conducting an Operational Analysis: Getting It Done!

Bob Carleton and Gary Craig will co-present an educational session on Collective Incompetence: The Real Truth About Organizations at THE Performance Improvement Conference in Orlando, FL on April 12, 2011 at 11:45am. Bob will facilitate a “Cracker Barrel” session on Organizational Performance: Getting Beyond an Individual Focus and Gary will facilitate a similar session on Energy Investment Model: Assessing Attitude and Commitment. Rather than the usual 60 minute educational session, the Cracker Barrels consist of three 20-minute rounds with a different audience for each round.

Bob Carleton was invited to speak at the Rocky Mountain Chapter of the Turnaround Management Association on September 22, 2010. He presented Alignment: The Critical Component in Successful Change.

 

April 2010

Gary Craig was invited to serve as Chair for the “One Society” Taskforce of the International Society for Performance Improvement. This taskforce is charged with building a business model supporting Chapter/Society integration to achieve “one society.” The purpose of One Society is to generate value for the Society and its affiliated chapters by providing financial, material and service resources by 2015 so that the Society is able to increase membership, conference attendance, and number of Certified Performance Technologists.

Gary Craig presented Leadership: From Neanderthal to Dilbert-Not Much Change in 50,000 Years for the American Society for Training and Development (ASTD)-Northern Rockies Chapter on March 16, 2010 in Ft. Collins, Colorado.

November 2009

Bob Carleton and Gary Craig are traveling to Lagos and Abuja, Nigeria to further refine and develop a strategic alliance with MacTay Consulting. Vector Group will explore opportunities in Africa and possibly sourcing a Vector-Africa office.

September 2009

J. Robert “Bob” Carleton was invited to speak at the International Society for Performance Improvement (ISPI) Fall Conference in St. Louis on September 24, 2009. His Symposia Session was on Value Chain Analysis: A Shorter But Sufficient Systemic Organizational Analysis. ISPI describes these symposia sessions as “guided by leading experts who present key concepts to the audience. Session leaders facilitate further exploration of the symposia topics as well as discussion about practical applications. This popular element of the fall conference offers high-level, in-depth discussions that
promise to deliver information, ideas, and solutions.” Bob also presented Cultural Due Diligence in a “bagel barrel” session on 9/24.

Bob Carleton presented a full-day workshop on Beyond Individual Performance: Performance Improvement at the Enterprise Level for the International Society for Performance Improvement-Austin Chapter on November 6, 2009 in Austin, Texas at the Goodwill Community Center.

Bob Carleton was an invited guest speaker at the 41st Annual Conference of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria. CIPMN is the equivalent of SHRM in Nigeria. The conference was held October 21 – 23, 2009 at the Abuja International Conference Centre in Abuja, Nigeria.
