Organizational Effectiveness:
Vector Group’s View on Organizational Problems / Issues
We believe 80% of problems are similar across all organizations. Categories of problems include:
- Customers: Global, competitive market place, customers increasingly demanding.
- Process: Internet and other technology constantly requires processes to change.
- Profits: How do we still make money in this new environment?
- People: How to recruit, retain and develop the best talent we can get?
McKinsey & Company conducted a research study entitled “The War for Talent” which speaks to the scarcity and battle for talent in the marketplace. Companies need people who can think and act at a certain level. We then believe 10% of problems are industry specific and 10% of problems are organizational specific.
Most people think their problems are 100% unique. We apply solutions that cross industry lines that are appropriate for any organization. We can cross-pollinate solutions. Every organization‘s response to the 80% of common problems is different based on their culture. We can take the client from current to future state WITHOUT a step-by-step prescribed methodology.
- We determine how things are done (vision / mission).
- We focus on middle managers (they are the “keepers” of the culture). We focus on short-term wins in infrastructure, processes, and cost/income ratios.
- We take theory and actualize or operationalize it. Change starts immediately after Vector Group is brought in, even if it is a long-term process.
- We do concurrent and consecutive change.
